About The Art

Beauty, flow and the power of the natural world are the forces that inspire British Columbia painter Helen Gamble. For Helen the land is a living, growing, changing phenomenon; a miracle that she feels she is a part of. When painting landscapes Helen experiences a visceral understanding of the powerful kinetic energies that swirl and dance upon the earth.

Simplified, stylized forms, vibrant color and sweeping undulating lines are all choreographed on canvas to produce the large, vibrant paintings she is known for. Helen is continually exploring ways in which to express the flow and balance she sees in nature.

As well as expressing great energy, Helens painting are tempered with tranquility: a place for repose, a place to simply be. Communicating the introspective and unified face of nature lends a balance to the powerful forces that shape our spectacular planet. Helens paintings are expressions of a life force that she believes permeates and animates all life.

The painting "Yellow Inlet and the Wind" was chosen from across Canada out of 1000 submissions to launch a new line of wines called "Artist Series Selection". The label will be used for 9 years and the wine is available throughout Canada.
